We'd rather be making cute parasols.
Cutie UV started as a brand dedicated to looking cute while being sun protected. We wanted to build community with those who know the pain of the sun-worshipping culture we live in and to have fun with design. (See our original purse parasols here and here.) These values and interests are still ours, but now a greater concern weighs on our minds: the fate of our democracy.
In response to and part of our contribution to the cause, we pivoted to producing umbrellas to be used for protection from the sun and other elements during demonstrations. Umbrellas have a history of being used in peaceful, pro-democracy protests, specifically the Hong Kong Umbrella Movement of 2014. Used singularly or together with others, they can be a shelter from the storm.
All proceeds will be used to purchase more for greater solidarity and visibility.
